Bourne Choral Society

The Choral Society is a small choir founded around twenty-five years ago. Our conductor, since 2001 is Malcolm Smith and the choir specialises in singing classical choral works, although we have a broader repertoire when required.

Works performed by the choir include Handel’s Coronation anthems, Faure’s Requiem, Stainer’s Crucifixion, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols and Handel’s Dettingen Te Deum. The Christmas 2005 concert saw the performance of Thiman’s The Nativity and Matthias’ Ave Rex.

In addition, we sing Choral Evensong each year at Peterborough Cathedral and elsewhere if invited.  We do now need more members in all parts and would welcome new singers.  We meet every Monday evening during term-time 8.00 - 9.30 pm at Bourne Abbey Church for practices.  Anyone interested in joining is welcome to come and either join in or observe.  Further information is available from the Secretary, Brenda Dobbin on 01778 426067.
